Description
This webinar examines how European industrial hubs have accelerated the decarbonisation of emissions-intensive industries through collaboration, innovation, and policy. Participants explore the role of industrial ecosystems, circular economy principles, material efficiency, infrastructure development, and government support in reducing emissions across the steel, cement, chemicals, and aluminium sectors. The module analyses practical case studies, including Sweden's HYBRIT initiative and Denmark's Kalundborg industrial symbiosis network, while evaluating technological, economic, and policy mechanisms such as Carbon Contracts for Difference (CCfDs). Learners will apply these European lessons to assess opportunities, barriers, and transition pathways relevant to Australia's industrial regions.
