Description

Stainless steels are one of the few materials of choice used by commercial food and beverage producers as a contact material. There are good reasons why these organizations consistently select stainless steels including their supreme hygiene characteristics, ease of cleanability, no transfer of unwanted flavors to foods / beverages and their long safe service life.

Given all these proven benefits why do we then choose other materials and coated products when we prepare our own foods? We often choose Teflon-coated and ceramic-coated cookware and use plastic utensils when preparing our food. Furthermore, we frequently use plastic containers for storing and reheating our prepared foods. All these choices whilst now embedded into our society have been shown in recent years to have negative impacts on our health.

During this webinar, worldstainless Secretary-General Tim Collins will explain why stainless steels are the perfect food and beverage contact material and will outline using compelling academic research the health risks associated with other material choices.

At the end of this steeltalk, participants will be able to:
• Understand why stainless steels are the preferred material for commercial food and beverage applications.
• Learn about the health risks associated with using alternative materials such as plastics, Teflon, and ceramics.
• Explore academic research supporting the safety and hygiene benefits of stainless steel.
• Gain insights into how material choices impact food safety and long-term health.
