Description

The estimation of the manufacturing cost of a machined part is a critical task to the manufacturing companies. An accurate cost estimation improves the possibilities of a company to be competitive with the rest. To estimate costs, one important thing is understanding the steel that will be machined and its characteristics. In this module machinability of enhanced free cutting steels will be introduced. The addition affecting machinability and the cost additions will be evaluated.
Then, the machinability improvement affected by sulphur content will be studied. Finally, the composition of free cutting steels and their applications will be showed.
