steelTalks is a monthly series on topics of interest to the global steel community. The lectures are presented in a webinar format with a guest lecturer. This webinar will explore the introduction of Hydrogen DRI combined with Electric Smelting Furnaces to replace the Blast Furnace is currently the subject of significant research and development. There is also a re-assessment of how Oxygen Steelmaking technology will operate with a wider range of feed materials. These issues and other options – Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS), and biomass and/or Hydrogen substitution of coal in the Blast Furnace – will be described and evaluated.
