Description

Bearings are an integral part in the concept of linear motion. The objective is to carry and transmit heavy loads with a minimum frictional resistance and subjected to heavy compressive loads.
Bearing steel properties should include a high wear resistance and rolling fatigue strength. In this module the steel categories used for bearing manufacturing will be presented. In particular, Steel Hardenability will be showed.
After that, Case Hardening will be introduced, and the Bearing Properties and Parts that it uses will be showed. Finally, the Quality Requirements will be presented.

What you will learn

- Recognise the different steel compositions used for each part of bearings;
- Identify the quality requirements of steel bearings.
