Control Parameters in Ladle and Tundish

Full Code

MAN0107210

Module Type

E-learning

Description

The quality of steel casting products is associated to the knowledge of numerous variables and operation parameters strongly interrelated. The phenomena that take place in the steel ladle directly affect those occurring in the tundish. Later, what goes on in the continuous casting mould and down stream will be reflected in the intermediate and semi-finished cast products quality (slabs, blooms, billets).
In this module, we will learn about temperature control, mould oscillation and heat flux. These parameters are important to control in the ladle and tundish.

What you will learn

- Understand the impact of temperature variations over casting conditions;
- Identify the role of the mould in steel solidification;
- Distinguish the settings that govern the mould oscillation and their impact in the process;
- Explain heat flux in the mould and the secondary cooling zone.
