Description
Plate metal is any sheet of metal with a thickness of 6mm or more. Plate metal is used in applications where durability is more important than saving weight. This process takes a different step to rich the thickness required. The applications of these plates are: structural, construction, pressure vessels, marine and offshore equipment, military applications, etc. In this module hot rolling plates processes and the different kinds of hot rolling plates will be examined. In particular, the Thermo-Mechanical Controlled Rolling (TMCR) will be explained.
At the end, the mill schedule is described and a comparison of two typical plate mills is treated.
What you will learn
- Have a general overview of the plate rolling process;
- Describe Thermo-Mechanical Controlled Rolling (TMCR) metallurgy;
- Explain about rolling schedules and mill scheduling- interleaving;
- Compare between two typical plate mills.
