Description
Different heat treatment furnaces are used depending on the steel type and the results required, and may operate with a controlled atmosphere or under vacuum; e.g. vacuum and gas furnaces can be used for carburising.
Furnaces may be fuel-fired (gas or oil) or may use induction to heat the components. In this module the different parts of a furnace will be detailed. Then, the uses of vacuum furnaces and carburising gases will be introduced.
Finally, the different types of furnaces and control of products obtained into heat treatment will be described.
