Description

Heat treatment can be used to produce excellent and improved tribological properties in steels. Examples of heat-treated steels include: Tool steels, Dual Phase (DP) steels, TRIP steels and Maraging steels, which are used in various applications requiring high mechanical durability. In this module the classification of Tools steel will be presented. Then, a description of DP steel properties and characteristics will be introduced.
Another kind of steel heat treatment - the TRIP steel process- will be explained.
Finally, the Maraging steel will be described.
