Description
Interpretation is the last phase of life cycle assessment. Here, it is determined whether the study meets the original goal and scope and, if necessary, any deficiencies are addressed by revisiting the previous phases of the study.
Significant outcomes of the study are assessed using techniques like hot spot analysis and sensitivity analysis. Conclusions of the study, possibly with recommendations, are made within the confidence warranted by the quality and robustness of the work.
What you will learn
- Realise the role of the interpretation phase in a life cycle assessment study;
- Recall the conclusions of a life cycle assessment study should be supported by the quality and completeness of the inventory analysis data;
- Recognise the conclusions should be supported by the validity of the link between input/output data and actual environmental burdens; and
- State a study should be assessed as to whether it is sufficient to meet the stated goal and scope as previously defined.
