Description
Changing one component in our Nominal vehicle directly affects the mass of the vehicle. But this effect is not isolated to the component we changed.
Saving mass in one component of the vehicle may allow us to save additional mass in other parts. For example, if we can save mass in the Body System, we may be able to use lighter Components for the Braking System, Suspension System, etc. These additional savings are known as Secondary Mass Savings and are due to resizing subsystems.
What you will learn
- Distinguish input procedure for primary mass changes in the Original and Competitor Component;
- Explain scaled components fitting in the Nominal vehicle;
- Analyse mass change secondary effects.
