Description
The construction industry is the largest market for steel products. In this course, the diversity and versatility of steel in its wide variety of types, shapes, properties and applications in buildings and other major structures will be explored. The course will be of interest to material scientists, metallurgists, civil and structural engineers, architects, designers and fabricators as well as to the owners and occupiers of buildings. In this module the structures and building evolution over the past two centuries will be examined.
This evolution will be proposed taking advantage of the on-going developments in iron and steel technologies, new design concepts and fabrication techniques.
