Tensile Test (Part 2)
Full Code

Module Type
E-learning
Description
In the previous module, the Tensile Tests on steel probes was studied. But, what happens with the properties of steel if the composition of the steel changes or the steel has carbides or sulphides like inclusions?
Well, in these cases, the properties like ductility or plasticity are affected. In this module we will study how the changes in steel affect the Mechanical Properties.
For example, the interruption in a tensile test is used to see the work hardening definition. We will learn the true stress-true strain definition. And finally, the microstructural fail in steel and the form of “cup” and “cone” will be presented.
What you will learn
- Interpret the influence of work hardening, necking, ductility, and true stress - true strain curves;
- Distinguish between true stress – true strain and engineering curve;
- Explain the microstructural effects and ductility;
- Measure the reduction of area.
